At present, brazed diamond tool technology has developed rapidly, especially in heavy-duty dry grinding and dry cutting environments, such as the processing of cast steel, cast iron, and steel. It provides new development space for brazed diamond tools. At the same time, It also puts forward new requirements for diamond brazing technology.
Coated diamond with a three-layer structure of diamond-carbide-metal is used, and a new suitable brazing material is selected, and a high vacuum brazing process is used to produce heavy-duty brazed diamond tools. The carbide which is coating the diamond as intermediate layer makes up for the defects of diamond and improves the strength and sharpness of the diamond particles themselves. The outer layer of metal improves the wettability with the brazing material and enhances the diamond's holding power. New brazing materials improve the wear resistance, thermal strength and elastic modulus of brazing alloys.
At the same time, the existence of the diamond coating layer is helpful to prevent diamond from being oxidized and graphitized during brazing and use, slowing down thermal damage, thereby significantly extending the durability of diamond and increasing the service life of brazing tools by 50% to 100 %.
